Over 20 years of data development and automation experience
Larry is the primary resource at Rain Dance — an information systems professional with 20+ years of designing, modifying, and supporting software systems. A combination of analytical skill, creative skill, and management perspective gives him an aptitude for on-target, informative reporting and systems. He understands people and their needs, whether expressed, implied, or discovered through experience, and thrives on discerning and delivering in an exceptional way.
When the need requires, a team of hand-picked resources can be recruited to fit the requirements of most any project.
Specialties: education, publishing, database architecture, process automation, complex database-driven applications, and systems integration.
Migrated all information from a 3rd party managed package built on Salesforce to the native Salesforce Education Data Architecture, including custom objects as required. All data was retained, including relational integrity. Functionality and security were optimized, and the migration was completed with no operational down time.
Real-time integration between Salesforce and SQL Server-based Jenzabar campus management systems. Using CDATA PowerShell modules, built a real-time synchronization of leads, contacts, online applications, and financial aid information for the admissions department across two divisions sharing one Salesforce instance.
Built from the ground up: a complete student and staff intranet covering schedules, financials, class attendance, ID card creation/management, and automated account creation across four ERP components. Programmed with PHP, XML, XSLT, JavaScript, and SOAP web services; ID creation used fpdf and GD to manipulate images and generate PDFs on the fly.
With no additional licensing cost, transitioned a legacy reporting system with 200+ reports to a centralized, Active Directory-controlled system built entirely in SQL Server Reporting Services. Navigation launches from a customizable dashboard aggregating each user's key information.
Real-time integration between Salesforce and SQL Server-based CampusVue, using custom web services and native Salesforce APIs to synchronize leads, activities, and documents for admissions across three campuses and two independent campus management systems.
Migrated leads, students, academic records, and historical contact info from DiamondD to CampusVue. Through schema research and SQL profiling, migrated over a decade of data across two campuses — five months, on time, with negligible data issues.
Using FileMaker Pro, rapidly built and deployed an attendance ID-scanning solution for convocation events and athletic center attendance, deployable on iPhones, iPads, or any browser-enabled device, with Active Directory authentication via FileMaker Server.
Automated scanning and association of student-supplied documents with multiple back-end systems using SimpleIndex, SQL Server, and PHP — meeting document storage and security requirements while keeping files available through the systems people already use.
Using Moodle's native web service API, built an automated term-initialization procedure duplicating individualized course templates into every session for the coming term, saving considerable hours across several hundred courses each term.
Automated and integrated users, courses, and enrollments from three separate CampusVue SIS systems into a single Moodle instance, enabling shared online courses across all campuses, colleges, and a new online college.
Ground-up redesign and deployment of a full magazine production system: multi-tier architecture, automated time and project reporting, mailing list prep, MAS200 billing integration, and complex billing metrics. Data store: a highly relational MS SQL Server database with 160+ tables and 230+ stored procedures; interfaces built in FileMaker Server Advanced.
SQL Server database design and stored procedure programming for a high-volume groupware web application, including interfacing with components and a distributed multi-tier hardware structure.
Whether it's Salesforce, integration, migration, or something in between — let's talk it through.
